Woyane Militias Mutinied Throughout Ogaden
March 23, 2009 Reports reaching the Ogaden Online Service Desk confirm a widespread revolt within the recently deployed Woyane militias throughout Ogaden. Eyewitnesses, Ogaden Online reporters on the ground as well as reliable sources within the Woyane militia leadership hierarchy in Ogaden all agreed that there is a widespread rebellion within the Woyane militia ranks.
It is reported that many militia heads have simply laid their arms. These militia heads as well as their militias are reported to have told their superiors that they have been misled when deployed. It is said that the mutinying militias used the high number of casualties they have sustained recently as proof enough that they have faced a determined and well trained Ogaden National Liberation Army (ONLA) soldiers whom they said knew the terrain more than the ragtag Woyane militias.
Instead of targeting the whole Woyane militias deployed throughout Ogaden, the Tigrian regime in Addis Ababa is said to have ordered the arrest of the leaders of the militia revolt. The Ogaden Online service desk has so far received confirmation that militias numbering around 486 have been detained and transported to Qabri Dahar.
Sources within the Woyane leadership in Qabri Dahar have intimated to one of our urban reporters that most of the mutineers are from non-Tigray communities. These sources have added that there are plans underway to transport the 486 mutineers in custody in Qabri Dahar to the city of Harar. The fate that awaits these mutineers in Harar is not yet known.
