to be honest they were very knowledgeable regarding the political affairs of the Horn and this is something that came as a complete shock to me as most Somalilanders i meet are like Hooligans that have no base for their reason to be so divisive other than the vague argument of the former so called "dictator" MSB (aun).But in complete contrast these Somalilanders i met where in fact praising MSB (aun) hard work, reasoning that he was a very productive president that took the country forward in many different fields, but also acknowledging the fact that gruesome mistakes were made by his government and unfortunate result came with time.
one of the reasons they supported the idea of Somaliland was to allow development in Waqooyi and to distance this development from the ungoverned space of Somalia, which for the past 20 years has been rubbed by foreign companies and nations. this concept of a separate nation of Somaliland with its own president will prevent outsiders taking advantage of its territorial land and waters as outsiders would not commit criminal acts under the misconception that Waqooyi is part of the Ungoverned space.
another point one of them raised was that the Somaliland concept is unfortunately also used by corrupt leaders to raise dispute between Somalis; Waqooyi and koonfur, this sleazy trick includes, exaggerating events carried out by the former Government, creating insecurity and rivalry between neighboring clans and so on. these corrupt leaders use these tricks to prolong their managerial positions as they will be seen to as Leaders of a separatist Somaliland whether or not Somalia gets its act together.
