Abdullahi Abdull is one of the children in the program. His mother Idil was one of the Somali parents who urged the school district and the Health Department to investigate.

A doctor diagnosed Idil's son with autism when he was 3 years old. He's now 6.

"He can say maybe one word, you know just request something like a Coke or juice," she said. "Maybe a year ago, anything that was coming out of his mouth was just crying. But now he's able to imitate almost any sound."

i noticed this is a growing problem for somalis in toronto as well. its scary. word is that it has something to do with overdose of vaccination from infancy to 24 months.

Well autism happens to many Americans just not Somali's.

I've heard some experts say it might be due to a lot of the medication and shots babies are given when they are born that causes it. I think this would be a better reason, and a reason to explain why it is in Somali's more than other races could be that many Somali parents didn't receive these shots themselves so their genes didn't adapt to it like other races

what we notice is here in the UK is growing (slowly, but nevertheless growing) rate of cancer within the somali community!
