TPLF facing armed opposition in eight out of the nine region

Post by 1 double 00 % »

The TPLF is currently facing armed opposition in eight out of the nine regional states. The Oromia and Ogaden regions together comprising over 60% of the country are the most volatile. In the west the Gambella and Benishangul regions are simmering with conflicts as revolts by local armed groups against the TPLF regime are becoming more and more deadly. In the North insurgents are also active in the Amhara region. Tigray, the home base of the ruling party, has also witnessed hit and run attacks by disgruntled former members of the TPLF. The only region that has not seen any armed opposition yet is the Southern region, populated by many ethnic and cultural groups speaking different languages.
