Somalia: Kismayo Islamists send weapons, fighters to Mogadishu war

KISMAYO, Somalia May 11 (Garowe Online) - Islamists in Somalia's southern port of Kismayo have declared that the ongoing war in the capital Mogadishu will not stop, Radio Garowe reports.

Sheikh Abubakar Sayli'i, the Al Shabaab-appointed mayor of Kismayo, told a Monday press conference that the group had sent weapons and fighters to reinforce the armed opposition fighting against Somalia's U.N.-endorsed interim government.

"The administration and people of Kismayo are not neutral in the Mogadishu war, because they support the Mujahideen [opposition fighters] who are against the fake government," Sheikh Sayli'i said.

He stated that the Al Shabaab administration in Kismayo sent fighters, weapons and vehicles to support opposition groups fighting in Mogadishu, where violence since Thursday has left upwards of 60 people dead and more than 100 wounded.

"The ongoing war is a just war…the war will not stop until the Mujahideen take over Mogadishu," the Al Shabaab mayor of Kismayo vowed.

Somalia's beleaguered interim government has lost territory in Mogadishu as the armed opposition advances towards the Villa Somalia presidential compound, where President Sheikh Sharif Ahmed calls home.

Looks like that Alshabaab are serious about this.

They're better than the warlords in the TFG. Longterm though we look to be like Afghanistan

Who are we to judge what they are? We ain't on the ground, all we have is a much filtered reports by biased websites and/or Western media.

They may have their flaws and short-comings but they may be sincere in intentions.

Yes and then a group will go on exile and be opposition and after a few years they will come back and fight the same factions. Just like how they did on abdilahi yusuf.

Yup. Exactly.

A new puppet will emerge in exile, come to Xamar... control one block and then the opposition will fight them like what is currently happening and then Xabashi come back.

But, I doubt a TFG will be formed after this failure of the current one. Its very sad, now Somalia is at a point where even the wider Islamist movements can take advantage of the civil conflict in Somalia and in the end, only those poor masakin people lose as always.

All I want to see is one side winning. I dont care who..but stop the bloody effing bloodshed of the masakin already.
