Bollore Africa Logistics Eye Berbera Port
Berbera, 28 May 2009 (Somalilandpress) — A delegation of French officials arrived on a private jet in the Somaliland port city of Berbera on Wednesday for talks with President Dahir Rayale and other senior officials who had already traveled from the capital [Hargeisa].
Sources close to the Somaliland government have told Somalilandpress that the delegation were representatives of Bollore Africa Logistics - a French company interested in investing in Somaliland’s port of Berbera - however when Somalilandpress contacted their Ethiopian office they refused to comment. Bollore is the first logistics network integrated in Africa and has over 200 agencies throughout Africa.
The French firm plans to establish network agents and provide complete logistics management to the port of Berbera to meet modern demands for Somaliland, Ethiopia and possibly South Sudan (to gain independence by 2011).
The three-men delegation met with Berbera Port Authority, Berbera City Councils and the President of Somaliland who warmly welcomed them to the hot red-sea port.
The two sides discussed ways to modernise the port of Berbera and boost its capacity so it can meet demands from Ethiopia, Somaliland and neighbouring states.
Somaliland Foreign Minister, the Deputy Minister of Planing, and Personal Secretary of the President were among the delegates that met with the French business executives.
More French companies are expected to arrive in Somaliland for potential investments. In February, The Banque pour le Commerce et l’Industrie - Mer Rouge (BCI-MR), the partly-owned subsidiary of French bank BNP Paribas became the first foreign bank to open it’s doors to Somalilanders. Their official 8-storey high building is currently under construction.
Somaliland is developing close ties with France partly because of Nicolas Sarkozy’s Napoleonic ambitions for France.

are you on crack isaaq invested on the port after the war - the port got old and cigaal and his government done some work on it and renewed it and the aiport , same with hargeisa they invested on it . and now you want to say we dont have rights to claim our cities airports and ports what a joke
Re: Bollore Africa Logistics Eye Berbera Port
Isaaq invested into the port? where is your proof for such claim....no evidence for your claim wax ka jirto malaha...that was done by siyad, isaaq just use it..not invest in the port...they do business on the port that darod built...if u dont agree then bring evidence that isaaq that changed anything on the port after siyad...or go here

you dont know nothing about somaliland we renew the airport ,Port everything - does puntland have any proper airport - the garowe airport is fucked up
Re: Bollore Africa Logistics Eye Berbera Port
Garowe airport is being upgraded not to the international standard which is due to be finished at the end of 2009 at bossaso..which will have taxi rank, air traffic controllers, longer run away, modern terminals, etc....same with the port there is being extended to be deep sea port as big as djibouti...funded by the lootah a uae based firm put 270 million uae dirhams into it..and the world bank pledged 1.5 million funds into also..
Garowe airport is being extended longer because of africa oil who needs to get bigger planes to land there so they can go dig the oil out...so garowe airport is being extended and funded by africa oil, i think they pledged $250 000 into already..
Thirdly..u made claim i don't know anything about somaliland...if isaaqs did anything to that port that wasnt done under siyad..just show me 1 reference where they did that investment..im sure u could find reference for that claim...i can find all the references for any claim i make real quick...isaaq didnt nothing to the port except have ships there dock..dont claim shit u don't do simple..once i hear lies i'll slap u up and thats the way i am..
