Denial is not just a river in Egypt...

No!
In actual fact it is more potent than we anticipate...

I am guessing most people would agree with me when I say only by self-respect will you get others to respect you
Though, have you ever considered that perhaps too much self respect can possibly lead to some degree of pride and self importance?

I believe that I’ve been in denial for far too long now by disguising vanity and pride as Self respect... Except is this even possible?
I mean self respect is supposed to be more of a positive disposition whilst pride, arrogance and vanity are in fact quite the contrary! :|

Salaam sis LaQaNyO.. :rose:

I think you can have self-respect for yourself, without putting others down. Some people think that respecting yourself means you have to disrespect others, and like you've said, that's pride and arrogance.

Salaam- Firefly how you been sis? :rose:

I am just thinking 9 out of 10 my excuse for almost everything is self respect but it hit me really hard when I was reminded on numerous occasions that perhaps I got the wrong end of the stick... and I might need to get of this high horse called self importance instead! Hmm :|

Paidmonk... Yes, have you never heard or seen it before?

there is no such a thing as too much self-repect if you have faith. to have self-respect will lead to that person being humble and have respect for others! is an honor and admiration for oneself, how could you show proper respect for other individuals if you cant even respect yourself. but the problems lies when you realise how much self respect you have or how good you are to others! thats ignorance right there! to think you better than people, and you treat people good therefore they should treat you same is ignorance. always be humble and think you need to do better.
