Black Magic?
Do we really believe in that? You know how kids talk a little too much and they say things that they're not supposed to?.... Well, this kid came up to me, and he says "Anaga gurigeena mingis aa laga shidaa"
You're prolly wondering, who the hell is this kid? Well, I sometimes tutor my nephew's friend and their neighbors. Among those neighbors, are a family who has been in the States for only like 9 months... When I was helping them with their homework, the kid goes "Anaga gurigeen mingis.." His older brother got pissed and said "Waraa adiga wax walba waa iska sheege, hooyo waxee noo sheegto waa iska sheege, nacas yahoow"
So here is my question lol... Is mingis related to black magic? Is it gray magic or white magic? I know about this topic, but I don't know as much as others.

It's some sort of habaar, I guess... That's why I'm tryna learn a little more about it. I guess you don't know what it is either...
I'm not the only one!
peace- I didn't ask you if you believed in it... I just asked what it was.

Re: Black Magic?
They have hamari accent lol and they don't look jareer... When he told me about what they practice in their house, I kinda freaked out... But, I heard of "mingis" before... I asked my mom a while ago, and the only explanation she gave me was "Waa black magic..."Real_1 wrote:never heard of mingis in my life black magic is very real tho it used to be heavy in somalia a long time ago before coastal somalis still practice it are these ppl reer hamar or jareer?

Segsi K,
Stay away from those shenanigans. Mingis occurs to women who believe they are possessed by a spirit
As for Magic, I don't believe or disbelieve it.

Segsi K,
My Ex's eedo used to do it and they are from Bari.
Basically, they play music until the woman goes into a trance and beatings etc occur. Never seen one at all.

Re: Black Magic?
I believe in black magic/sixir..close relatives of mine have been victims..it exists wallahi..
The following evidence
from the Qur'an and Sunnah has asserted this ruling.
Allah says: 'And indeed they knew that the buyers of it (magic) would have no
share in the Hereafter. And how bad indeed was that for which they sold their
own selves, if they but knew.' [The Qur'an 2:102]
Abu Hurairah, radhiallahu anhu, related that 'The Prophet, sallallahu alayhe wa
sallam, said: 'Avoid seven most dangerous things.' The Companions asked: 'O
Messenger of Allah! What are these things' He, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam,
answered: 'Making anyone or any thing a partner of Allah; practicing magic;
killing a living being whose life has been declared sacred by Allah without
justification; practicing usury; misappropriating the property of an orphan;
running away from the infidels in a battle; and slandering chaste, innocent,
believing women.' (Bukhari and Muslim)

I don't know what they practice... As soon as the 8 yr old told me, the 11 yr old got all deffensive and started going off on his lil bro. I don't wanna ask the 8 yr old...
What if he tells his mom I've been asking her son about mingis and she comes and sixir me... Nah' I'm good... Don't ask, don't tell policy doesn't only apply to dykes.
AW, lol oh shit... Is mingis the only witch shit we have in Somalia? Or do we have other sixir? It really got me interested to know more about the darker side of Somalia lol.
Queen Arwa, lol you're creeping me out! Oh em gee! Can you tell me more about this unspoken topic?
