They were good leaders and perhaps great men..but never Great Leaders like Siyad Barre..

Specially now that we found out what somalis are made of without someone like him for the last 20 years.

Cawar,

I doubt it. The Somali people were not savages until the dictatorship. There was low level wars but never State Sponsored wars against them.

oh man i really hate idol worshipping and the cult personality.
lesson people siyaad barre was an instrumental component in the forces that destroyed somalia. in fact he lied the foundation for many of somalia ills. he was a brutal dictor that destroyed somalia beyond repair. just look at this way, somalia was a country when he came to power and the day he left office it ceased to be a country in all but paper.

Somali was a mess before he came to power!, democracy failed to solve the fundamental flaws in Somali society, case and point; the late President was denied state burial in the capital because of hawiye opposition, Mohamed Siyaad ensured he was buried in Xamar after the Revolution. The country fell apart after he was ousted because of these fundamental problems in Somali society, not because of the actions of one (great) man. Have some respect :x

Complete bullshit. Somalis were always savages. The difference is before they used spears but now they have Ak47 and technical

Always blame Siad Barre, instead of facing to the brutal truth

hold on who brought the AK-47 to country and in fact imported more guns and bullets then good.
here is a little fact for u. in 1989 somalia spent 90% of its GDP on defence and 1% on education and that is 1% was paid for by aid. so much for a great leader

He was gone when the civil war fully broke out. Was that his fault as well?? Was it his fault Somalia has done nothing since?? Is it his fault Ethiopia invaded? Is it his fault Al-Shabab has arisen??

Barre did a lot for our country. He was not perfect but better than anyone else. Increased literacy rates and wrote down the Somali language

Also 90% of GDP on military in 89 isn’t bad. Since there were dissidents galore, SNM,USC and others
