Mr Westergaard's home has been fortified since the attack
Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard provoked an international storm of protest four years ago with his caricature of the Muslim Prophet Muhammad.
For the past two weeks he has been living in a safe house belonging to the country's intelligence service.
This follows an attack on New Year's Day, when a 28 year old Somali man, armed with an axe and a knife, broke into his house in the city of Aarhus.
The BBC's Malcolm Brabant is the first broadcast journalist to interview Mr Westergaard in person since the attack.
