I have been trying to find couple of my friends from back home and I haven't had any success. What to do? Have any of you had success in finding friends/classmates online?

Ask around....that usually works since Somalis in one way or another all know each other.
Also, try facebook lol it might work

I guess you don't know their qabiil. If you knew their qabiil then you would be able to find them cause the qabiil thing works better than any other database out there.

OO-I tried fb, beleive me. Nothing.
GATSPY...I do know their qabiil but i have no idea what their clan or sub-clan is or where to even begin.

Lionheart because my mother is a pro at finding people I think the skill has rubbed off somewhat. After their qabiil you should try to remember where they lived in Somalia and what their parents (or they themsleves) used to do back in Somalia. Armed with that information ask around and find someone else who lived in the same area or worked in the same office. Also it would also be useful if you remembered what country they were in last you spoke, find someone who was also in that country and ask "Nin/nag oo cidaha (insert qabiil) ah amaad (insert country) ku aqoon jirtey?" If they say no, just ask for someone from that qabiil who lived in that country and ask them. You'd be surprised who easily Somalis can be tracked down. Good Luck

Lionheart '95 is not too long ago, look for Habar gidir who lived in Medina or had family in Medina or knew people who lived in Medina in the 90s. They shouldn't be too hard to find just narrow down to the specific xaafad or school.
