Most correct map. I can't argue with it but I am sure Saciid and others will say disregard it. Another propaganda.

Majerteeniya + Reer Bicidyahan is the second largest clan territory on the map to Cagdheeristan.

Re: Map Showing The Territories Of Somali Clans
Bullshit, this was like 100 years ago besides alot has changed, as you can see the H.Y is the most eastward clan and nobody lives in the middle of them and warsangeli and they extended further to Hawd, especially this is not a updated version latest 1 from the CIA should do.

The only clans you have to give credit to are the ones on fertile land - a large land full of desert is useless. That means ogaden are/were doing well.

Re: Map Showing The Territories Of Somali Clans
There's no desert in Somalia, its savannah, good land for pastoralists and their animals. How is a farm useful to a family with 100 camels? Somalis are meat eaters, they live off the camel, and if the deserts were useless it wouldn't be the most continuously inhabited portions of the country.Cumar-Labasuul wrote:The only clans you have to give credit to are the ones on fertile land - a large land full of desert is useless. Re: Map Showing The Territories Of Somali Clans
If you look down at end of the map, that is my clan deegan. Since we kicked out the Wardhey out of their land (illegally but who cares), we haven't lost an inch of that land. Ofcourse, the odd Hawiye (Gaaljecel) family might wonder through with their livestock, but that is about it. And these guys want to tell us, in the last 50 yrs, some Somali qabils have lost their territories to another clan.Rooble90 wrote:Lord Diplock wrote:Most correct map. One thing I have agreed with some Issaqs (i.e Lali), the size of the land does not correspond to the actual population.

Re: Map Showing The Territories Of Somali Clans
So a nomad who spends his life roaming dry arid land in search for little food for his camels has a better life than a farmer who can grow his own food and sell it aswell. I know which one I'd choose any day of the week.paidmonk wrote:There's no desert in Somalia, its savannah, good land for pastoralists and their animals. Re: Map Showing The Territories Of Somali Clans
True, but more important it does correspond to power. If one family dominates a whole 3-4 regions they end up getting a high representation and the pattern continues for decades. Look at Rahanweyn, one of the 4 main Somali clans, they will always get represented by the 2 regions they inhabit, but some small sub-clans can have whole regions to themselves, locking in representation at any table, sometimes in multiple countries.Lord Diplock wrote:One thing I have agreed with some Issaqs (i.e Lali), the size of the land does not correspond to the actual population.
The farmer can lose his land, but the nomad doesn't have to worry about that. We all saw the aftermath of the civil war for farming communities, my family still has equipment laying around unused somewhere near Kismayo, but my relatives in Mudug are living fine because they always moved around according to the season. In a fucked up society, you can't settle down.So a nomad who spends his life roaming dry arid land in search for little food for his camels has a better life than a farmer who can grow his own food and sell it aswell. Re: Map Showing The Territories Of Somali Clans
Here is another map apart from the Burco city & Hargeysa city which is a bit unaccurate but the rest is accurate especially eastern somaliland it shows no Isaaq clan lives between warsangeli and H.Y only some sections of dhulbahante live between h.y and warsangeli in the southern eastern areas of sanaag.
And this map is from 1997, Small Arms in somaliland.
