Clearly after a downpour of Rain took place. Let's be honest only everything South of Galgadud is very Green in Somalia, the rest are either desert or Savanah the exception being a few pocket places.

^^ West Galgadud always had green places. only couple of places in East Galgadud are dry like Dusamareb iyo Adado but Elbur iyo Eldher have green places.

King of Awdal has learned well, now I don't feel I need to correct people anymore. :geek:

This is just an example of downpour, bushes don't turn jungles unless retarded amounts of money are poured into them. You can find FAR greener and more exotic locations in Bari, and Bari is anything but green.

I used to believe that until google earth came along, the only proper jungles in somalia are south of kismayo far south adjacent to the kenyan border. Also the main farmland is found in an around the area from baydhabo to afgoye, and obviously the are other green areas adjacent to the two rivers, other than that it's no more of a barren desert than anywhere else in the country.

that' a a bloody desert with a little bit of rain. That place looks ugly for sure. I don't undertand why people need to post of pic semi desert with one or two dots of greenery and make out like it' some kind of savannah.

West Galgaduud has always been the hot spot for wild animals(libaax iyo Ugaar) and the best pasture lands for camels because of its green landscape of natural trees, you can describe it as a very dense savannah but nothing less than that.

this was from the Gu rains, which means the heavy raining was over months ago, usually it will stay like this through Hagaa and it will rain again during Deyr but it has not done so for years because of drought. this picture is not immidiately after downpour rather it displays the normal climate the camel herders were familiar with some years back before the droughts.

people ask yourself why this region produces the highest number of livestock ?

Paidmonk Google Earth which Pioneered has thought alot.

Cumar

We are not talking about Jungles though because if that was the case than even Kenya has no Jungles. We are talking about Green Pastures which are Green all year round and farm land. If you look at Google Earth which i actually did again the Real Green Pastures in Somalia begin in Hiiraan, than run through the Two Shabelle, Bay, Bakool and the two Jubba which have a huge river running through them. Gedo seem's to be green on the side bordering the river while at times it seem's like the Ogaden or NFD which are clearly barren.

Galmeygaag

Where is your source that this region produce's the highest Livestock? Clearly these pictures were taken right after a down pour if not a week late. Galgadud is barren or Savannah at some point's of the year. Plus it most likely has alot of camel's and we all know Camel's dont need lot's of water.

Both Gedo,Ogaden(Shabelle,Jubba,Genale,Faafan(Periodic),Dawa)and NFD all have Major rivers running through them which remains ideal for agriculture and livestock raising.

The only exclusively barren areas are North(Puntland) and north western(Somaliland) Somalia.

i will look for the source but trust me it is common knowledge, i can understand a Rer Boramo like you has got no clue of what goes on in the rest of Somalia. there is no point to argue about the pictures, they are obviously new and i have told you that Gu rains start in April and rain heavily late April early May, which means this green landscape you see has been there for almost 2 months, dont let the ponds confuse you, this land has clay like soil and the water takes time to sink in thus forming ponds and sometimes runoffs, "Gal-Gaduud" means "Pond-that is Red".

western Galgaduud borders HAWD on the west and Shabelle river a few KM south, you obviously have the wrong picture in your head linking Caabudwaaq to the desert Bari houndreds of Km North.
