Universal TV is a propaganda money machine that lacks media ethics and may have deceived the licensing agency through its claim of disseminating information to the wider Somali audience in the United Kingdom. This media group who is run by remnants of the late brutal regime of Siad Barre , the communist ruler that lead to the demise of Somalia , are currently preying on Somaliland envying the recently democratically held presidential elections in SLD.

Above all is the insulting programme that was meant to discredit the people of Somaliland quote : “they have brought nothing but prostitution and alcoholism to united Somalia in 1960 ” as claimed in the TV debate at Universal which included the grieving cousin of the late brutal dictator of Siyad Barre , Mr Hosh who was given the opportunity by Nadaar of universal TV to lash out at Somaliland with slander and smearing insults .

Mr. Hosh who was given the stage to speak about the union of Somalia with Somaliland said that “what Somaliland brought to Somalia union was prostitution by its women in addition to alcohol and khat consumption. “ These kinds of statements are abhorred as most of the elites of United Somalia at time of union came from British educated Somaliland. Southerners were more into corruption and Mafia style tactics of subduing others through cheating and deception which lead to the eventual rebellion of Somalilanders and the formation of SNM.

This TV Channel currently targets women and the non-educated and gives most of its air time to Islamic religious programmes to reach out to the poor audience that did not have formal education back home and are , therefore , confined to their homes either watching Arab Sat or Universal TV.

Universal TV collects donations through its accounts opened at banks at Southall where people have to transfer money for building Mosques and other charitable activities that has not materialised to this date . Religious clerics promise their audience : ” wishes made by donors will be accepted by God ” which is in my opinion pure deception of the weak and the spiritually needy. Many of those who contribute money are women who sometimes sell their jewellery if they do not have cash. A close friend of mine informed me that ” every time Universal TV is called for airing a plea for collection of donations at a Mosque, they take a fixed amount of £ 5,000. There was even an incident when a Universal TV worker disappeared with the whole donations amounting to £10,000 collected at a Mosque.”

Collected monies usually end up in places unknown to many but possibly in the hands of Al-Shabaab terrorists fighting in Somalia to recruit young fighters from Europe.

Universal TV should have its accounts audited and its balance sheet put into the Companies House website with rigorous checks on its transactions , to make sure that Al Shabbab is not operating in UK. Otherwise Britain may end up hosting Al Qaida agents operating under the disguise of information dissemination.
