Somali Christians in Colonial Era

Post by IRONm@N »

There were four guys, in British Somaliland, all of them are Somalis born in or around Berbera, but after the British took over, they names and religion have been changed. some of the well known ones are:
Michael Marion
Clement Salool
Alex Qolqoole
Farah

some of them were involved in Somali politics in 1940s, and 1950s. one of the most famous, was Michael Marion, the chairman and founder of Northern United Party (NUP).
These were kids raised in British Missionary schools in Berbera. This is what boiled Sayid Muhammed's blood and made him wage a holy war against the British for 20 year, because he heard somali kids named Michael Marion and Clement etc.

this isn't about Somaliland, this is about Somali Christians in the Colonial era, they just happen to be Somalilanders, because British Somaliland were notrious for opening missionary schools in their admins and converting ppl.

From my understanding, the likes of Michael Marion, were raised by English missionaries, and thus were always Christian. I can respect those guys, they are infinite times better than the likes of Ayan Hersi, who were born Muslims and turned there back on Islam.
