It is not splits that is causing the TFG's lack of progress, it is these five items in my view:

1) Corruption: this TFG entity is wasting the money that it should pay its soldiers since most of it goes to the pockets of the officials.

2) TFG soldiers are incompetent basically just without discipline whereas the Al-Shabaab figthers are mostly disciplined, have Islamic knowledge, will never extort the people from their belongings, and would not commit any rapes against women.

3) TFG backers are not committed to its success. They see and use it as a trojan horse to prolong the suffering of the Somalis. For instance, these backers are buying the latest tanks for AMISOM but don't care if the TFG soldiers have technicals. When battle starts, the TFG soldiers are expected to be ahead of the AMISOM tanks where in real conventional warfare, the tanks are supposed to be ahead of the soldiers and infantry soldiers are trained to hide behind tanks. In Mogadishu, Somali TFG soldiers are ahead of the AMISOM tanks when battle starts and took the brunt of the casualties.

4) The ARMs Embargo is still in place. What that means, this TFG is not allowed to form a successful military force. It is only a half-heartened measure to claim that they are helping to build a capable Somali security force where in reality they are not actually committed to lift the ARMs Embargo so this TFG can buy tanks and other powerful weaponary.

5) Most of the funding for intelligence agencies from the west towards Somalia goes thru Ethiopia. Many don't know Ethiopia runs all of the paramilitary groups in Somalia and they do it with western financial and logistical support. How do any Somali expect any peace in Somalia when all of the death squads and paramilitaries are managed and controlled by Ethiopia with the urging and the support of the west?

Blieve it or not, Somali Republic is gratually dismantled!
