On applications its Black/African American

so yeah, we are technically speaking

Somalis are Africans

Africans that are Americans

African American... Barack Obama used this as well being originally from Kenya

But the term has been used in referenced for those blacks that have their origins in slavery because they didn't want to be called black or negros anymore...
