Your leader being your servant, doesn't really add up. Yes u elect him, but he tells u what u can and can't do, so u need a better analogy to describe an upside down world that we live in

Even in secular countries, elected and public officials are called "civil servants". There is a relationship between the leader and the followers, and each has their responsibilities. The relationship is that the the followers follow the leader, and the leader do what is in the best interest of his followers. The responsibilities on the leader are greater on the individual level then on the followers. He must serve our needs not his needs.Shirib wrote:Your leader being your servant, doesn't really add up. Yes but wouldn't it be expected for the leader to have a little more wealth than the average man. I mean that doesn't sound outlandishPerfect_Order wrote:Even in secular countries, elected and public officials are called "civil servants". Actually in Islam it is Haraam for the leader to take a salary.

Ask the locals, I don't know. But if your trying to draw the connection that this constitutes a salary or a form of recompensation, that would be incorrect. From my understanding ofcourse.

If a person is ruling over a few people could make sense not to get a salary. However if they are ruling over millions, that is a full time job, and they would need a salary or some other type of compensation. Otherwise, we would only have people who are already rich and don't need a job being the leaders.
