I lived there for several months. Overrated city. The homes are tiny and lack central insulation, no one really speaks English, and Japanese people are blatantly xenophobic with some stores even hanging up "foreigners not allowed" signs....

The rural places I was gawked at like some sort of extraterrestrial alien. Shameless starring really. The cities were ok, but the African name has been soiled by Nigerians who are running criminal enterprises and causing crime. Japan is a cool place to visit though, but not live...

Tokyo was great i had an amazing time in 2008.
Imagine the amount of trouble i could get upto with 3 of your mates 2 of them navy boys that just left the navy.
We caused chaos and destruction from shinjuku to shibuya and since we lived near akibahara the nerd heaven since we it was cheap and wo could resist all those electronic toys and kinky manga cafe ladies..

They need good pr. It is funny how the second largest economy in the world for the last 40 years (3rd now after China) has less good pr than small countries. Japan would never come to my mind when thinking of visiting a country and their culture and people doesn't seem that interesting. Plus the fact like Union said they hardly speak English.

This is one of the attractions, there are less tourists and so you are forced to meet more locals and delve into their culture..
Have you been to europe during the summer? its disgusting full of americans and british and god knows who else..

The lack of tourists means that the japanese are more friendly towards foriegners.

This is the main attraction the people/

Gurey, one of my relatives went on a study abroad to a Chinese province and he said he was treated like an exotic being. People would come up and feel on his skin just to see how it felt like. Him and his peers would go around and in a market, all the Chinese would crowd him peering at him, shaking his hand, touching him, he was even let in to restaurants and stuff for free just so the people crowding him would come in and provide business. I want to go to a Chinese province.

Sure, if you think skyscrapers are beautiful :? . Why would anyone ever want to go to a country that eats raw food and invented sumo wrestling?

To me, there's no city that can match Istanbul
