Actually Socotra is a disputed Island between Somalia and Yemen. But according to a appeal sent to the UN almost 2 months ago, farmaajo appealed for making Yemens precence in Socotra as illegal.

What claim does Somalia have to Socotra Island? If not Yemen it should be independent, not part of Somalia

Socotra Island was under Yemeni control since the 60s. The only claim Somalia has was its closeness to Somalia geographically and that is not a claim. Even Somali ggovernment leaders in the 60s accepted this fact that it should be under Yemeni control. It is becoming an interesting place due to the recent promising of Petrolium prospects. It is been reported that the island is sitting on a sea of oil.

How can you sell land that isn't yours? Look at these handicaps. It's not enough claiming S/L and djibouti, they want somebody else's land too when they can't even rule 4 km of their capital.

Actually a while ago..around 2yrs ago a friend of mine sent me an information that the Yemens were doing heavy constructions at the Island...But whoever it belongs to, how can we protect an Island when in fact we can't even protect our land..when we can't agree on a government...when we are all acting like barbaric and idiots with little or no functioning brain in their heads Don't look further, just look at this forum the hate and venom that is spewing from us towards each other...
