2 Shot at Brian Coyle Community Center in Cedar-Riverside

MINNEAPOLIS - Two men were shot Monday night at the Brian Coyle Community Center in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis.

It was an extremely bold drive-by shooting that was apparently caught on multiple surveillance cameras. The suspects pulled into the parking lot in a Toyota Camry shorlty after 5 p.m. and opened fire on two men standing out front. Inside, the community center was packed with kids and teenagers participating in after-school programs meant to keep them away from such violence.

Minneapolis police spokesman Sgt. William Palmer said Monday night one of the men has a life-threatening wound to his torso. The other was shot in the leg. Both were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

No arrests have been made and police have no suspect description.

In September 2008, a 20-year-old man was shot and killed outside the Brian Coyle Center. As with that shooting, police are having a tough time getting witnesses to cooperate in Monday night's shooting investigation.

Again, police have no witnesses willing to talk, even though they were hundreds of Somalis there. couldn't they write down the license plate of the car or something?
