Cirwaaq if I could, I would shake your hand right now. That's exactly the same conclusion I've come to. I've noticed that every nation has developed intoxicants throughout history and across time. From the ancients to the medieval to the modern. Societies whether the arabs, asians europeans or africans have all been exposed to intoxicants e.g. drugs and alcohol. The somalis have never until the modern times come into contact with balwad (we've never even produced our own alcohol like xabashida). Sadly, because we aren't use to it (and somalis don't know moderation nor restraint) it has destroyed our society. I feel the rapid increase in somali children with genetic and/or mental defects have alot to do with this.
