First-ever urban Somali streets & sidewalks come to Garowe

Post by Monk-of-Mogadishu »

What has the world come to? Just when I thought Somalia was stuck to perpetual hotel-building they are doing some constructive shit. These are probably the first legit sidewalks and city streets being built in post-war Somalia, even street-level sewage/gutters is being implemented.

They look a bit shabby but mainly because of the color of the material they used.

That is quite ugly but I guess it is better than nothing. Reminds me of what I saw in parts of Ethiopia.

Garowe looks like a war zone. Even these images show you how defensive the place is - Shabab laga baqay ... lol not that I support them :)

Waraa your title is misleading.

Anyway, I hope they don't leave it like that....it looks ugly and incomplete.
