The basis for democracy is some issues things are undemocratic such as minority rights. The US bill of rights, the most important component of the constitution, and which is shared on a universal scale by Western democracies and institutions is the most undemocratic piece of legislation that could be produced. It says no matter who is in control of the country, no matter what political party is in office certain rights are unalienable and are not up for interpretation or tampering by the majority. The number one right enshrined is freedom of religion and how Muslims and Jews eat is about as religious as you can get. This isn't about Burqa and property rights which have loopholes to be exploited. So confused young man, it is not their rules. Even if they did pass it (given the majority of the Dutch parliament is now in the hands of the extreme conservative rightwing), the EU constitutional court which is superior to that of the individual parliaments will tear it down.union wrote:Their country their rules.
