A rake, short for rakehell, is a historic term applied to a man who is habituated to immoral conduct, frequently a heartless womaniser. Often a rake was a man who wasted his (usually inherited) fortune on gambling, wine, women and song, incurring lavish debts in the process. The rake was also frequently a man who seduced a young woman and impregnated her before leaving, often to her social or financial ruin.

Only in Novels will that be true....actually no, I have met the most interesting and respectful older Somali men who I've later found out were "bad boys" previously in their lives so I wouldn't strike off the theory, reformed is the key word afterall.

That said, running around trying to reform a rake is probably the biggest waste of time. Only thing worse is marrying a rake and hoping he miraculously reforms during the marriage.

But you are hitting the 50-year old mark if not older, and you are still not married. What does that say about you? Get over this extreme feminism lady BV, come back to your Somali ways, and one Madarkicis bro will marry you if not the other Somalis. Just a word of brotherly advice!

PO and BV...since I'm a lit major, I found it somewhere in a criticism about a novel I'm reading. So I thought of it...doesn't mean that I actually do believe in that. I do have a girl friend who goes for reformed rakes though and says that I'm too weak, therefore I can't date them hahaha...I like nice guys, sweet, and romantic fellas...obviously a "reformed" rake would never be sweet...nice...or romantic

N yes I agree with both of ya'll....PO ur description is on point and BV ur analysis is great too...for marriage waa inuu yahay a reformed man...otherwise, it wouldn't work out...which I'm sure no one wants :P
