Tarzan made a great point, the military force should never engage politically, especially in times like these. they should stay intact and not follow the path of Libya where the military engaged politically and fell apart into two opposing camps and then further dismembered into tribal affiliation, this must not be replicated, that is if we have learned a lesson from Libya or indeed our own history hence 1991. Governor Tarzan made a great analogy “Egypt” that is keeping the military intact, preventing further chaos from ensuing and protecting the future of the popular uprising and the country as a whole. Somalia is currently at a turning point, we have a motivated and more than qualified head of executive branch, an equipped cabinet and a military that is growing more accountable by the day. It’s very unlikely that a figure head and a parliament chairman has any weight in the current events, the only thing that could give them some leeway is as i said a breakdown of the military. the fact is Mr Tarzan has more de facto power than the two Sharif, and as the governor of Benadir he has also the responsibility to safeguard the popular uprising as it is in his constituency it was born.
it is like that Somalia can be experience a quite revolution because we are not in need of a volatile military junta in my opinion, it is not necessary because the population only despise individuals within the regime, individuals who are not even essential part of the government, certain people who can be discarded legally without in the process harming the rest of the government and its institutions, including the PM and his cabinet.
having said all this, Somalia is largely controlled by outside forces who have agreed to keep the status que for what ever reason and so you can never expect too much, but i think Somalis are showing signs of over coming tribalism and if that is possible anything is.
