Game of Thrones
who's watched the first season and what are your thoughts? I read the books back in 06 and I felt that the TV adaptation would suck like the Legend of the Seeker shat all over the Sword of Truth series but I have to say that I was very impressed, other than the gratuitous porno scenes. I am looking forward to next week to get the new book

I was completely blown away by the show. Right from the opening scene, down to the intro theme, and each character. The acting, writing, and plot; wonderful. So wonderful I was spurred on to by the novels. Currently singing a song of Ice and Fire ... Greatness. Absolute greatness.

Re: Game of Thrones
Very true. They also did an excellent job with the casting ...Joffrey Baratheon looks convincingly annoyingAlphanumeric wrote:I was completely blown away by the show. Re: Game of Thrones
Joff is really good. Just the right amount of arrogance and naivete needed. But! The best cast character, and one of the better actors in the series is very easily Tyrion Lannister.

Perfect.

Perfect.

Re: Game of Thrones
LOL@gratuitous porno scenes
I, however DID NOT read the book. ITs a bit dumb and childish to be a fan of it. But i did enjoy watching the entire season on HBO- on one single sitting. It was relatively entertaining. I liked the whole lanister and stark bitter fightings going on. I particularly enjoyed the incest sex between the blondes.
The little dwarf was interesting. Alpha is right, the most entertaining cast. However, the series does lack a strong plot, it is mediocre, and not that compelling. I will watch season 2, for the sake of it. Nothing better on the tele of course.

I am guessing you also watch Rome, Camelot, Spartacus, Pillars of the Earth, and Gladiator?

Vo@loool
U r a fan of me, arent u!
No and Yes. I did absolutely adore Pillars of the earth, strictly due to the performance of Sutherland and my favorite actress Hayley atwell. Very bewitching actress. Pillars of the earth, does have a strong plot, with medieval tale and touch that i enjoyed imensely. Surprisingly, it did also have an economic study about it, not to mention some great twist with a great church villain.
The roman was great too. That would be my second pick of the ones you listed. Very romanesque and enjoyable to watch. However, Camelot-- is disgusting. I did not like it at all. The blonde lead kid is patheticly un-hero like. He does not make me want to watch him acting or making a love scene. Its like seeing two lesbian having sex, not appealing at all. The story line is pathetic as well.
Spartacus--first season was great--when they were angling the upper nobility class war and their center on greed and ambitiousness. The hard body, hot men did also help. But second season- was NOT that great. I think they wanted to retrieve the success of the first season by bringing back the casts even though most of them were killed in the first season. It reverted in going for the earlier times angle, which was NOT great.

Re: Game of Thrones
Actually I read the book Pillars of the Earth couple years back and thought the show was a bit disappointing. The book was more vivid but the show was still good. Rome as you said was a great show to watch. Gladiator as well first season was the highlight, but they couldn't continue because the main actor guy was diagnosed with cancer and so they had to do a prologue as the second season. Camelot I thought had promise but for some reason I discontinued watching after the first two or three episodes. Games of Thrones is a great one as well.

Re: Game of Thrones
Basra did you read the book Pillars of the Earth? After reading the book I couldn't watch the miniseries, since it was so horrible in comparison.
edit: same voltage. although I read it just a few weeks back after buying it for 10¢ at a book clearance.

Re: Game of Thrones
union ...
Dont make me smack u. Didnt u read my comments above? I said, I DONT read childish books. I am highly intelligent walaal, books with low grade plot system make me yawn and fall asleep. The only thing i can tolerate reading nowadays is biography books with a lot of gossip content. I need a lot of schadenfreude dose to be entertained and remain consistently happy.
