Ethiopia had also a much more favourable climate for communism to thrive rather then Somalia.

Ethiopia was a society where kings and royals were at the top and slaves at the lowest. It was a perfect place to use Communism for Soviet union since the people would welcome any force that would try to make everyone Equal. Ethiopia had also its own naval bases, wich soviet union also saw as a good thing, so that they dont have to be dependent on berbera.

Compare this to Somalia, where everyone is Somali and Muslim. Where everyone wanted "greater Somalia" and didnt want to compromise with other non Somalis. Somalia was actually more fascist then communist according to some analysts

President Siyaad Barre has no fault. He is the ONLY leader in the History of Somali Civilization who fought against ETHIOPIA to liberate Somali Territories and Somali people that were being occupied by Ethiopia. Before Siyaad Barre, it was the Darwiish and before the Darwiish was Ahmed Gurey.

Look at Somalia today. The very SNM, USC, SPM that were being funded to oust Siyaad Barre were used to destroy SOMALIA. Congrats.
