AYATOLLAH Bareento,Come In
Behold the mighty Ayatollah bareento from the great gadaa people. may your name be sung by 1000 virgins, may your mighty name send shock-waves to the amhara and tigre people, may they run and cluck like chickens when they hear of your name. your majesty, i just have a small question bothering me. is it true oromos came from Madagascar hence they are foreigners and strangers in east Africa as amhara and tigre claim ??

Re: AYATOLLAH Bareento,Come In
As you know,my dear brothers and sister of the boob bouncers had to cross the gulf of Aden from Yemen. they did this using rudimentary rafts, but their journey was short just a hop,but as you know the journey from Madagascar to the horn is much much longer than just crossing from Yemen. how did oromo manage to get through the treacherous ocean or paddle their rafts for the 4,000 km journey to the horn
??

Greetings Mighty Crusader ,
May thousand vuvuzellas sing your glory and hndreds of fat xalimos play Niko for you and hundreds of shaggees bounce their precious for u.
Madagascar as origin of oromo is only one of funny stories about the origine of the once great people of Oromo.
Our neighbours fancy having foreign origins preferably from middle east: habeshas claim being from hebrew or South yemen descent! as for somalis they claim being from of the most prestigious arab clans.
Habeshas were appalled by the fact we claim no foreign origin, and in their selfless generosity created one or two for us ...the funniest is oromos aka gallaas being the descendants of two shepherds from Gaules, ancient name of france
As for the Madagascar myth, well, oromo has/had no technology to travel that far...but this theory was strong among ethios because of some strong belief. strong belief that oromos used to live as recently as a century ago along indian ocean...thus further "justifying" the madagascarian origin myth.

Re: AYATOLLAH Bareento,Come In
Greetings 2ndtonone,
There are oromo clans bearing the name HawiyA in Harerge and Baale.
In Harerge they are the sons of Baabile son of Qallo. (one of the four sons of Qallo...the Afran Qallo).
In Baalee I think they are in big in number and are part of one of Arsi moiety, mostly live in the lowlands.
Honestly i dont know whether they are related to the Hawiye of south Somalia...my take is it is only name ressemblance.
But of course people use these name ressemblance for political purpose.

Bale is its own zone, and Hararge another zone. And Bale Oromos are of the large Arsii clan.2ndtoNone wrote:bareento, after offering you a fine Nagaya and Fayaa, can you tell us if the Baale Oromo of Hararge are infact Hawiye (the great clan of southern somalia?

They have a sub-clan called Hawiiya, and many Oromos claim the Hawiye Somali are of that clan.
But who know, they might be orominzed Hawiyes. There are many clans that have previous names but sucked into larger oromo clans like the Bursuug Hummee.

Re: AYATOLLAH Bareento,Come In
Like Most of Oromo clan names, it must be ancient oromo word, I dont think the meaning is known for sure. Personnaly I dont know.
One thing I would like to point out is BAABILE had three sons one is Hawiya...not all Baabile clans are HawiyA
The other thing is oromo clan names are their founder's name. It is common in oromo genealogy to have name overlap , and mostly there is no special relation between clans bearing the same name. For instance there are Jaarso clans in harerge, in Arsi, in Borana in wollo in showa etc...and all these clans are not necessarly related.
Does the word Hawiye has any meaning in Somali? or is it an old somali name.

Ayatollah Meru, somalinet is influencing you greatly! next time u will be throwing words like murtads and khwarij
I make no distinction between somali clans, they are all the same for me.
Hawiye hardly ever interacted with oromos....if there is a somali clan with no oromo blood mixture it is the Hawiya!
I know little to none about them, I conjecture they are probably the original Somalis.

Bareento,
Ramadan kariim ! We are the original Samaale. Like the Oromiya, we do not claim any exotic origins.
Meru,
You are an insignificant Meru
We and the Oromos were in Eastern African while your kin were chasing chimpanzees to eat in the jungles of West Africa.

The issue about Akisho Dir and Hawiye is very complicated. In Oromia they are Baabile Barentuma, but in Somalia they are Irir Samaale.

Bwana Abdiwahab,my people are the remnants of the great meroe civilization, hence our name meru and meruwah in arabic,we were in the horn while you were foraging for wild nuts in the deserts of yemen. indeed after the demise of the civilization we pot displaced to where we are now.
