Somalia:Needs justice,Equality,Forgiveness and Unity

Post by gobdoon »

If We are to go forward mistakes of the past should not be repeated there should be government and local authorities based on consultation and fair representation no Qabiil or community should be ignored or discounted no matter how small in numbers they are, We need to trust and work together for the common good resources should be distributed fairly across the board those in charge of taxes collected and public finance should be accountable if you say the money collected and public funds would be benefited by only my Qabiil and immediate family then people are not stupid and you are creating hatred and animousity that could boil over anytime,Those serving the public from the president down must remember they are serving everybody and should be above corruption, neptethism and self intrest.

I agree. The most immediate one is justice for the thousands who perished; somalis should learn that crime does not pay.

Forgiveness is the key. It was a corner-stone in solving conflict in Somaliland post-civil war.

But somaliland cannot be compared to the south; the tribal dynamics is different; population and natural resources.
Forgiveness is good but not enough. Justice for the dead! Justice for those wronged.

And

a fight against the god called tribalism

I never said forgiveness was enough, but that it was a corner-stone in the development from the current status in Somalia. It is easy to say we need justice for all that were killed, but there were thousands killed, this would mean the situation spiralling out of control as each individual wants to be avenged for the loved ones. It is better that in a traditional-style, tribal elders or respected leaders from each clan who have the full support of their members, can sit together out in the air and decide the most reasonable and appropriate solution that is closest to justice, just as Somalis have always done for centuries.

Somalia can learn a lot from the way Somaliland has established itself politically and socially. It is not true that only one clan lives in Somaliland you have at-least 4-5 clans. The fight against tribalism is still there, but it is clear that much of it has been won.

Also remember what happened in Rwanda, everyone forgave and moved on while us Somalis didn't.

There'll never be an equality as long as there is tribalism. To create equality, tribalism must die. Look at US, UK and other western countries, there is no equality for immigrants and non-natives, and this problem cannot be solved while tribalism problem can be solved if you don't tell anyone your tribe.

Saxar; I think the solution is not "let us just forgive and move on". That culture of impunity is why we are in this mess. That is rewarding those who have caused our plight. AN honest justice will do the trick.

We need a cultural revolution too; this culture of passivity; this culture of every somali wanting to become a political figurehead should end.

And as Haxxor rightly said it is all about killing the invisible god called tribalism. If we are not prepared to this god we are doomed to keep being screwed.

Nomand,
True, we need trauma centres instead of parliament and government.

We are indeed on drugs (tribalism)

Somalia needs good strong leadership and more wadani citizens. A strong central govt with strong influence of all 18 regions.
