Walaahi i am the same when it comes to tacsi. There is nothing i hate more than to attend one (astakhfurulah) because of the Awkwardness i feel. The last one was a lil cuz of mine that was shot and walaahi i couldn't face the mother. saying samir iyo iiman somehow seem inadequate thing to say to a mother who just lost her son in such senseless circumstances. But as muslims it is an obligation and there is no getting around it, BUT BOY DO I HATE TACSI!

Anyway, AUN to the person who died and samir iyo iimaan to you and the family.

We all feel that awkwardness & yax-yax in similar situations but if it's tacsi of a relative/friend then you have to.

Something like, "Ilaah naxariistii janno haka waraabiyo, anaga oo dhan ayuu naga tagay (tagtay, if the diseased is a female) ee Ilaah samir haynaga wada siiyo" will do.

And Ilaah ha u naxariisto qofkaa dhintay.

PS: One thing I am not yet sure is, are Muslim men allowed to make tacsi to Muslim women? I mean, if the living relative of the diseased is a female can men go to her and say to her, "Ilaah ha u naxariisto" etc? I did it in the past (to a close female person whose parent died) but I am not sure Islamically.

Adeer/eedo, geerida waa xaq. Ilaahi samir iyo naxriis hanaga siyo. Ilaahi haa uu nuuriyo qabriga, jannatul fardowsna haka waarabiyo amiin. (Don't look deeply in their eyes, and keep ur voice low).

Silence and shaking heads is the best strategy.

Do you know that in the good old days you could hire some people to cry for you at funerals?

It is still common in several societies.

What if the dead guy was a convicted dope peddler who is break-dancing in Jahannam? It's hard to mouth pleasantries about a drug hustler. No amount of sugary words will convert him into a saint.

It's akin to those bereaved families one sees on the evening news of gunned down hoodlums sounding off about how the gangster was an angelic father of four who never harmed a fly.

I mean really, is lying gonna help the deceased?

Are you Allah? How do you know he will go to hell? Are you gonna judge him on judgement day? Do you what's in the heart of the deceased? Do you know that Allah is the most forgiving. Since when was making Dua for a dead person a sin? And what does making dua got to do with lying about the deceased person?

Samir iyo imaan Alla ha ku siiyo oo Illahay ha unaxaristo. Bes.

The parents already have heard all the "dhimashada wa xaq/wala walaa dhimanaaya/inanku inan fiican ayuu ahaa" etc. Saaxibkana u ducee.
