Libya’s NTC Delivers Aid to Somalia
Days After Qaddafi's Death, Transitional Government Already Helping Neighbors

Libya's National Transitional Council (NTC) today delivered relief supplies to drought-stricken Somalis in Mogadishu after their plane landed at Aden Adde International Airport in the capital.

The donations included food, medicine, biscuits for malnourished children, dates and clothes and was delivered by NTC military officials.

“Although Libya is currently is in crisis, the NTC has delivered aid for our Somali brothers suffering due to the severe drought and famine. Libya has long historical ties with the Somali people and is ready to continuing supporting them in this critical time," Colonel Abdinasir Mansor, a representative for NTC, told Somalia Report.

Said Jama Qorshel, Somalia's State Minister of Land and Sea Transport, speaking at hand over ceremony praised the donations from the Libyan people who are facing their own internal crisis after battling the regime of dictator Muammar Qaddafi.

“It is very impressive in this critical situation how Libyans are trying support their brothers suffering in Somalia," said Said Jama Qorshel.

After several months of fighting for control of Libya, Qadaffi was killed as the NTC captured the last stronghold of the dictator's supporters before announcing that the war was over.
