Buying a house or land in Somalia
I want to know the exact procedure that I would need to follow to obtain a house in Somalia. From Somaliland to Kismaayo. Would I be able to buy a house or built in Somaliland or Puntland since I don’t hail from these regions. I named these regions because they at least have a viable government which would protect private property rights. What is type of houses do they built in Somalia? How about electricity and plumbing? How much does it cost?
Which authorities would I need to contact to buy or built a house. What reputable builders are there in Somalia? I’m especially interested in the Southern regions in Somalia especially Hiram, Juba and Shebelle regions. I would like to buy huge amount of land in the regions that I named. How would I go about doing this?
I see myself in Somalia living their permanently within 10 years, Allah willing,
All information would be appreciated

Re: Buying a house or land in Somalia
As far as I know, no authorizes deal with land and properties unless there are disputes over ownership. Just make sure you are buying from a person who has sabarlooga (Documents) for the property. These are documents issued by the last government we had, or even by the colonial administration if the property stayed within the same family since the colonial era. Ask the locals/neighbours about the property. During the ICU period in Xamar, some guy who sold land to my father went to Xamar and tried to sell land that he sold to us over 20 years ago. The locals intervened and said hebel hebel owns this property, so be wary of fraudsters and make sure you get in touch with the locals.

Re: Buying a house or land in Somalia
So I came across this on the net
"Property Investments in Somalia
Somalia is a developed country with a prospering society composed of many cultures. It has thoroughly developed and progressed in fields like human sociology, health care, and standard of life, life expectancy, public education and the protection of human rights. The cities in Somalia are ranked amongst the top when it comes to quality and standard of living.."
On a "buy property overseas" website LOOL
Personally, I see myself living and working in Somalia after 10 years or so inshAllah...my family already own couple of properties...one in Kismaayo, one in Baledxaawo (Gedo), and we r in the process of building one in Galkacyo....
And later on in the future inshAllah, I want to have a huge house on the coast of somalia after I retire

I know we have 2 Villas in Kismaayo near Xaafada Cascaseey overlooking xeebta Liido. When peace returns I think Kismaayo will experience a property boom. Bare people want to settle in this city
. I plan inshalah to own farm in Gobweyn just north of Kismaayo, where the Juba river enters the Indian ocean

Good Idea walahi. Our people need develop this city and invest in it when stability returns. Bare people have bought homes and farms from Baardheere to Kismaayo back in early 2000 to around 2005/6. I dont know how things are now. Future is indeed bright inshalahOliveOil wrote:mudugawi wrote:I know we have 2 Villas in Kismaayo near Xaafada Cascaseey overlooking xeebta Liido.
