The decision by the Kenya government to recruit mainly from the Ogaden resulted in complaints from other clans. The Ogaden clan primarily lives in the Central Ogaden plateau of Ethiopia, the North-Eastern Province of Kenya, and the Jubaland region of Southern Somalia. They also inhabit Somalia's major cities such as Mogadishu and Kismayo. The Marehan mostly live in Jubaland, Gedo and Lower Juba regions in Southwest Somalia and in Northeast Kenya. They are considered the most fierce nationalists among the Somali people and have always played key roles in both the Somali uprisings.

This is why Beesha Sade Marehan needs to adapt to modern realities. The Marehan were the only clan to refuse paying taxes or coming under the control of the British in British East Africa and as a result were removed from the territory to near the river and border. The Marehan then conducted a war of resistance which ultimately aided the British decision to given Jubbaland to the Italians. The Marehan then become synonymous with the modern existence of the Somali state and for 21 years presided over the most aggressive pan-Somali irredentist movement for Somali lands outside of Somalia. It seems the Kenyans would look at this history and would enter the land with a bias. Beesha Sade needs to make it apparent it has evolved with the times and in this globalizing modern world where borders and sovereignty is becoming extinct need to reevaluate their interests.

While Kenya wanted the soldiers it had trained to form a buffer between Kenya and the Al Shabaab-controlled regions around Mogadishu, the Somalia Transitional Government wanted them sent to Mogadishu to fight Islamist militia. Ethiopia too has objected to the creation of Jubaland mainly inhabited by the Ogaden and Merehan clans. Addis Ababa feels that would encourage separatist passion in the Ogaden Region of Ethiopia.

In late March 2011, Gandi hosted elders from the Marehaan and Ogaden - who are the main clans in Gedo and Juba regions of Somalia - at Chester House in Nairobi to discuss the stalemate in the deployment process. In the meeting Gandi discussed with the clan elders a possible withdrawal of support to the government.

Beesha Sade Marehan needs to welcome Kenyan involvement while making it apparent Azania is a liability and a new framework for Jubbaland needs to be deliberated. The Kenyans at least realize our status and position in such a state as Jubbaland State.

I agree, I think Marexaan need to use siyaasad and let go of any sort of 'nationalism' bullshid and play the game when the Kenyans role in. Being Pro TFG does not=Pro Somalia as the TFG itself is really more of a faction than National Government.
