---- Somalia Football team dissapointed me  -----

Post by Cumar-Labasuul »

First of all I have to congratulate them on their will to play whilst still in turmoil against all the odds.
However what dissapointed me was that they chose to play their home game on foreign soil (Djibouti) It is obvious to me that they cannot play in Mogadishu but last I knew Somalia wasn't only Mogadishu. They could have played the game in Garowe - where they held the Regional tournament last year. Even all the players and coaches were from Mogadishu, highlighting that Somalia = Mogadishu = one city state. Had they played in Puntland they would at least have had a 'home' crowd. Runtii it is embarrasing for me as a fellow Somali that they chose Djibouti over another city in Somalia.

Djibouti is practically home soil. It's like England playing their home games in Cardiff, Wales. It's not literally home, but it practically is.

SOMALI FOOTBALL FEDERATION(SFF) LIKE THE TUUG-FG, WANTS EVERYTHING IN MOGADISHU. THEY WOULD RATHER GO TO A FOREIGN CITY THAN A PEACEFUL TOWN IN NORTHERN SOMALIA.

If there was a civil war in Republic of Ireland, Im sure they wouldn't mind playing their home games in Northern Ireland - it's the best they can get. It's not exactly home, but it almost is. If there was an on-going conflict in England, then they would play in Cardiff as well.

Are people forgetting that the majority ethnic group in Djibouti is Somali? And Somalia playing in Hargeisa would also be perfectly fine with me. What's the problem?

EDIT: Libya played ANC qualification games in Cairo cos of their civil war.

waar no they wouldn't not in a million years, it is called 'Home' game for a reason and last I remember only below Galguduud is in a civil war. Djibouti isn't even a fully somali country so that is idiotic to play a home game there.

btw, if djibouti wanted to host a game for somalia then they might as well pledge allegiance to somalia and decalre themselves another region of it.

two-toed freak u must be a foll to think that there is a Stadium in Somalia that qualifies to host an international game like World Cup qualifiers. this is not a regional tournament where you kick it in a dusty field, the stadium must meet all FIFA standards.

Djibouti :dj:

djibouti stadium itself is a small piece of crap given it was built for them. Besides all the garowe stadium needs is to lay some turf. It is more embarassing to play a home game in another country

Why is that embarrassing? Libya played their games in Cairo. Iraq play their games in Jordan. Every African nation who had conflict played their game in the country next door.

I agree that people need to stop thinking that Somalia = Mogadishu. North Somalia is perfectly fine place to host a home game.
