Two Dutch television hosts appear to have eaten a piece of each other’s flesh before a live studio audience.
Proefkonijnen, translated as Test Rabbits, presenters Dennis Storm and Valerio Zeno were filmed having their flesh surgically removed and prepared by a top chef so they could sample the meat on their show, which is based on unusual experiments.
They have previously tried to answer questions such as "Can you shave with ketchup?" and "Can you drive blind?" on the show broadcast on BNN.
"Nothing is really that special when you’re talking about the taste of the meat," Storm told the US ABC Network after filming the episode.
"But it is weird to look into the eyes of a friend when you are chewing on his belly."
Storm and Zeno ate the bite size pieces of flesh cut from each other's buttock or abdomen. The meat was cooked in sunflower oil and served without any salt or pepper "because we wanted to know what it tasted like" Storm said.
The episode will air on Wednesday in the Netherlands and the stunt has drawn international media attention to the unique Dutch program. Storm said any pain he suffered was well worth it.
"It was just a few centimetres of meat," he said.
"And now I have a good story about that scar."
