Not sure the exact name of the building but I know it was once a bar. I actually got quite up close & personal with the beach goers & I will be randomly posting other videos, inshallahDafIyoMiriq wrote:How come you didn't get close enough to ppl. Was that bar liido? the building you were in

No wonder you want the city all to yourself, that's a very nice beach.

With a beach like that in the city, you can understand why others will always want to change that.RovingMadness wrote:Heyy, I own the city to myselfunion wrote:No wonder you want the city all to yourself, that's a very nice beach.

Regardless, the beach is stunning and so is the city and I'm glad that Al Shabab has been driven to the fringes. A few more years and I hope to see the bars reopened.

Re: A Video From my Mogadishu Trip
i remember watching a video someone posted with dead corpses scatter in mogadishu beaches in 1991.

It must be bar liido then...there was an open shower next to it, we used to wash the saltwater of before going home...great memories...

Was that video taken on a Friday? How is the water is it warm or cold?
Also is there still a green line of sorts? Hate to bring qabiil into this but I had a HG/Cayr friend who when I asked Him did You go to Liido beach He was like noo, that area theres Abgal militiamen who will cause us problems or something You can only go on Friday. Either way I salute You, out of all the people here constantly talk about certian places in Somalia 24/7, You're the 1st person I've seen who actually went

The Green Line died with Aideed. From the mid-90s, there has been regular & consistent interaction between the both sides of the Green Line & to the extent that Suuqa Bacaad became the warehouse for Suuqa Bakaaraha & South Mogadishu was dependent on Cisileey Airport & Ceel Macaan Port for trade since the ones in Mogadishu were shut down.
If your friend said that he couldn't go to Liido Beach because of the presence of "Abgaal militias" then he's simply a coward. Firstly, there are no specific "Abgaal militias" in Northern Mogadishu. There are Federal Troops throughout Mogadishu & they are drawn from each of the clans in Mogadishu. I remember speaking with a HG TFG commander in Hodan & I jokingly told him " you HG are still carrying weapons in Xamar" & he said I can bet you that if you talk to my immediate staff (not the troops I command) you will find every Hawiye subclan.
It's funny your Ceyr friend thinks the presence of "Abgaal militias" will stop him from visiting Liido, because the Interior Minister who happens to be Ceyr is guarded & defended by 100% Abdirehman Saleeban-Waceysle ASWJ militias. I am certain if such a high ranking HG Minister is comfortable with Abgaal militias, then a mere civilian like your friend shouldn't be having any problems.
