Somalia in the verge of Identity Crisis:

Our own Somali language has been diluted so much to the point that our heritage and cultural values are in the risk of becoming extinct. A nation that was once vibrant and proud has been brought to its knees by its own people and by others who have seized the opportunity.

So, what is left for us?

What/Who are we waiting for?

I beg to differ, Somali language is as rich as it always was, and will be. There was never a standard Somali language as in the Arabic language, where the language of the Qur'an is considered to be the standard. Every region has their own distinct dialect, plus the slang promoted by the younger generations in every language on the face of the earth and in that case, it's an evolution no one is safe from.

Besides, as long as there is S-Land and Oganden, the roots of the language will always be there.

where you coming from..our laugauge lost?? its as rich as it ever been...i never seen ppl take so much pride in their lauguage as we do...waalahi our youth talk in it while others hide it or dilute it with english lool

The somalis in the west not all have turned into a generation in need of "daqaan caliis"(including my damn self) Anyways lets hear your take on this, and please no preteens that can not conjugate a sentence, this is a serious topic...what i dont get. pakistanis for example have resided in the west longer than us, some 5th generation, yet they have their deen and culture intact, same could be said for the arabs, yet somalis, we just got here 5 minutes ago, and look at us. we have the most unique culture out there, yet we want to replace it with westeren bullshed and 50 cent and emulating video hoes ??

Ogadens and Reer waqooyi are not the only guardians of our Language. Somali language is beautiful in its own way for every region. I actually enjoy everyone of them. Although I do not fully understand the mai one.

It wasn,t right when a teacher from waqooyiga comes to Mogadisho and tells one of the students to speak proper Somali.

If you research the origins of the language in terms of orally transmitted stories, riddles, poems and proverbs, they all tend to be based on either of the two above mentioned regions. Even though other ethnic dialects have their own versions of either similar or distorted version, it all comes back to the said regions, I am not biased but stating the fact of the matter.

And fyi, Shabeel is an animal, not a location, neither people, so would you care to elaborate?

Shabeellaha provinces.

However the now called ogaden region may show our relation to the Oromo. Also the Nubians from Egypt damn i started talking almost somali to them

There are two Shabelle provinces, Shabellaha Dhexe (Jowhar) and Shabeelada Hoose (Marka Caddeey) which one is your take?

Why would i be joking . I think the Abgaal speak the most correct somali except the daud and their idoor accent
