They have a lot to thank for Mukhtar Roobow. He's got the city on his back. Putting on for D&M lol.
He raised a lot of eyebrows and initiated conflict with Godane when he allowed the D&M MPs safe passage in the fall of Baidoa (against Godane's orders to execute them).
Since then, there has been constant reports of inter-shabab conflict centering on Roobow and Godane. Their relationship was particularly strained during the famine due to Godane's refusal of aid when D&M were disproportionately affected.
Now Roobow openly says he disagrees with Godane...argued with him in Kismayo...and is against joining Al-Qaeda. He also regards negotiations with the government as ''promising'' and confirms that he is in regular contact with TFG (I'm guessing Shaatigadud).

This comes on the back of Shaatigadud backing Roobow and promising him safety if/when he decides to cross back.
