So, two hijabis posted these statuses on fb.
One of the many problems with ignorant statements of comparing Muslim women to candy, animals and other symbols to make a point about modesty is this…No matter what a Muslim women decides to do, let’s not forget that religion is a private, sincere and direct connection between an individual and their Creator. Not for society or men to determine what constitute a women’s dress or behavior.
and another:
I swear to God, if I hear ONE more person call a woman a gem or a pearl, I will scream. Homie, I'm not a rock, don't compare me to one. If I'm beautiful, precious, or whatever the hell it is just call me that. But I'm a person, with a heart and soul. I'm not a pearl that stays in an oyster or a gem on someone's ring finger.
Do you all dislike it when perhaps a shaykh, or a khateeb compares you all to a candy bar that is wrapped and it shouldn't be unwrapped?
