Working in the Gulf Arab Countries

I heard if you obtain a job in the Gulf Arabs while holding an American passport, the pay is more than double of that being paid to folks from other countries. Is this true? If you do or did work in the Gulf Arabs, please share your info.

I am also told there are no taxes paid in those countries, you get a free car, and a free house provided you got the job while living outside of those countries. If you have any information about it, please share it also.

Since the Gulf Arabs are very close to Somalia geographically,it is a good place to start your travel to Somalia. Share any info you have folks.

My first cousin works in Qatar and holds a Canadian passport. They treat North Americans and Brits like gold

His salary package is $5000 US a month, car allowance and apartment paid for by Qatar Petroleum. No income tax either. He has this driver he pays a few hundred dollars a month from his car allowance to drive him around.

He lives a very nice life.

Qatar I would look into moving to Qatar. That place is just extradoniary. You will never want to leave. The only downside is the really bad heat.

I have cousin who recently moved to Dubai to be an English teacher, the dude hasn't complained about his pay or cost of living thus far, one can assume the pay is on point there, he also confirmed you sign a contract with the institution to see how many yrs you'll be with them, same goes for the house it’s just to accommodate as long as you're with the job your signed to. I haven't heard anything permanent.

I don't think such a thing exists. Until Gulf States start handing out citizenships, nothing is permanent there.

But dont be fooled. There are foreigners there who have live in the Gulf states for decades and haven't left yet (and possibly have no plans of leaving on their own will).

I feel bad for those foreigners born in the Gulf and lived there their whole lives. What if the government tells them to get lost one day?

Yup. It happens. I have cousins born and bred in KSA that were told to take a hike. Thankfully English was a household language for them. But there are examples of folks who've been there nearly two generations and were told to leave. Now I realize KSA may be stricter than other countries there, but I don't hesitate in painting them all with the same brush.

Folks who are bent on moving to the Gulf States are running delusional highs.

I did a contract job in Abu Dhabi for 3 months. Taught folks English. Pay was ridic, around 4 stacks American a month. I didn't get my own base BUT I had a driver Came back to Canada to finish my studies. Headed back this time next year inshaAllah

Most gulf countries' central governments are ruthless. They dont give two flying fucks about anybody but themselves, very self-absorbed nations, those who want a contract for jobs their don't know everything that shimmers in this world is sure to fade.

Smh. Any specific reason for them to leave? I read an article on the KSA and how they plan to deport millions of foreigners and their families back to their countries of origin because they are overrepresented in the Saudi workforce.

The police literally came into his office at work, handcuffed him, started beating him, threw him in a police cruisers and threw him in an "AIDS" jail (a jail solely for people with HIV/AIDS). He was deported a week later after living in his own filth in a tiny cell.

People with Western Passports (western Europe, N.America, Aussie etc) are paid higher salaries then those without..
But ruunti the whole benefits that comes with jobs over there are over hyped..

My brother works there as an engineer and his wife is a teacher in a private British secondary school and the benefits isn't all that. Yes the tax is free. They get an end of service gratuity (not much), yearly air tickets, free medical cover, housing and car allowance which goes towards helping to pay for housing and their car but it really doesn't cover much.. Especially since rents in the UAE is crazy high..

As a teacher my sister inlaw also gets free tuition for two children.. Which is nice..

Most people also get about 30 days paid holiday.
