Giving direction to a tourist in Old Mogadishu

A relative of mine told me that in Mogadishu, there were street names. She said that you could direct someone with street names. Does anyone know or describe that kind of direction?

Go straight to via X, turn left to x street you come to Abdul-aziz mosque....then pass Sayid mohamed Abdulle Hassan statue .......

OK. But I am sure there are some here who were in their teens or even early teens at the time. If someone was 12 or 13, they can bloody hell still remember the town.
