Was Duugsi worth the money?
So I was thinking, I remember I hated going to Duugsi every Sat & Sun for 2-3 hours. Are there any Somali Duugsi where violence never occured? I remember my older sister (2 years older than me) RAN when we came infront of the Duugsi door, and a Somali guy had to run after her and catch her. Such anxiety, I swear I remember I could not sleep once Friday was over.
How much did your local Duugsi charge? For us it was about 20 dollars per child, so me and my sis 40-50 dollars/month. (If I converted the money correctly). That was alot of money back then, because my mom was a single-mom with no income. Allhamdulillah, now we are better off. Not to mention the dreaded 30 minute ride to Duugsi each morning. Anywho, we stopped going when we were about 11 or 12 year old, I think. The bus fare cost alot too. And now I'm sitting here with a copy of the Quraan reading in a language that I DO UNDERSTAND. And there where alot of kids at my duugsi, couldn't they at least tell us what in God's name we were reading? I remember this teacher always abused my fingers. He would smash them really hard with a pencil or twist my little finger around when he only read the new homework to me ONCE if I could not recide some of it the same day, walaahi I remember tears welling up because it hurt soo bad.
Anywho, how was your Duugsi experience? How much did they charge? Did you like going? How many hours a day and how many days a week?

OP, malcamad at a point was free since we hosted it with 10 other kids but at a different one, we paid the equivalent of $50 a month for 3. From 9 am to 12pm on Saturdays

I went to an Carabi Malcaamad, for 4 hours every saturday.
It had about 300 students and was strucured like a normal school.
Good memories
Loool at dugsi...I thought she meant dukhsi.

Magaladii waa cidla.Almost 60% percent of the families have left for either Hargeisa or Burco for Ramadan
