I have been fortunate enough to visit Markacadey couple of times in my former years and it still holds, to this day, a special place in my heart. It is arguably one of the most ancient, most breathtakingly beautiful town in the whole of Somali Peninsula and certainly one of the few worthy of the name 'city', a term which seems to be so loosely used nowadays and often apply to every desolate, dusty, small village across the nation.
