Getting Older......

I'll admit it. I'm ancient and I hate it.

How did the time pass by so quickly? Just yesterday I was a foodley who skipped when she walked and laughed at everything.
Today I'm a grown woman, weathered internally by this passage of time. I'm too smart too laugh at most things, every joke is either offensive to me or I get the punchline before the joke is done.

Future plans are serious now, no 'inshaAllah one day'....it has be done now or never.

I look at my face and I know that its only going to get older, not better.

No time for gossip with friends...in fact all of that seems like time wasting.

Older relatives ask me how old I am and I see that I am a reminder for them that they too have aged. "I cannot believe you're that old, you were a child just yesterday' they tell me. I smile and nod. In a couple of years I know that people will look at me with those same eyes and ask me why I havent married yet, that time is flying and my eggs are soon past it. Talk to me about eggs 5 years ago and I would have looked at you with disgust. Today....its a fear I too have developed.

What lies ahead of me now? Marriage, children and that Phd. I hope that by that time I will feel content and this gushing, rushing tidal wave of time will have calmed.

There is nothing stopping me. I work, I have a good degree with honours etc. Its just that time has flown by so quickly. I'm merely mourning my youth.

If you are not 28+ then you are worrying for no reason.

1.Get friends who are smart as you. Not having anything that makes you laugh is bed
2.Find a good man if you dont have one already, having someone else to concentrate on will make the days go faster in a good way
3.Get married, you cant run away from it sadly. Its naturally the next step in life

Your advice is also unusually shitty. Where on earth do you just 'pick up' good friends and lovers, people arent apples and life is not an orchard.

Keyblade, I dont know if its me but I cant seem to find the right kind of guy. I'm excellent at cooking, patient and kind...but I dont want to be attached to the kitchen. I have crazy dreams and the boys I meet think I'm either a snob or hard work. I cant just get married when Somali men have such strict boundaries when it comes to marriage. Most of them tell me that I should chill out and give up a dream or two to fit them in. As nice as they are my fear of regret puts the kybosh on any marriage plans.

I should have said 30 then being at this age and having nothing to show for it would be depressing you should not worry You do know you choose your friends so yea they are like apple, not saying get rid of the ones you have but get more, people who have the same interest, if people like you cant keep you interested then you have a problem.

As for the marriage, you will have to give up on some things just make sure its not a major thing or think of a way to fit them in without giving up anything just make it seem like you have given it up
