Untold story of last night!
The unstold story of last night is not President Obama's re-election victory, but the defeat of the Republican party across the board. In the senate not only did Democrats hold on to their Majority, but it they also picked up 3 seats and possibly one more in North Dakota, and add to it the Green Party candidate Bernie Sanders who will vote Democrat. The Democrats also made more gains in the house though not enough but will probably take away 200 seats, with about 30 net difference between the two parties. What this shows is that Republicans need to modify their whole platform, and put radical elements like the tea party on the back burner. With the economy steadily improving, the democrats look to be in good shape for the 2014 elections, which will be Obama's last 2 years. If the Democrats can gain back the house, which I believe they can, and keep the senate, which I believe they will make even more gains, a lot of things can happen in his last 2 years.

Re: Untold story of last night!
I do not know in the US media, but over here I heard all kind of anaylazis. I watched three different channels from 10:00 pm till nearly 5 am. then woke up at 6 am. I learnt a lot of about America.
the victory of this this election and perhaps the one before it ( in 2008), due to the demoghraphic change. America is no longer a white nation. Maye be if the Republicans had more ethnic voters, Obama would not have a chance?
so it seems to me, most people are voting along racial lines. I also understood that young white people ( many of them) who voted for the Democrat did it so because of their social conventions. Like gays and single mothers and all sort.
ah well that is my conclusion after 7 hours of watching the TV last night.

Re: Untold story of last night!
I don't think it's so much about racial lines in how the votes were distributed between the two candidates. I think it has more to do with income levels, those who were on the lower income to median income levels predominately voted for Obama, which by the way the majority of ethnic minorities fall into. The underline meaning behind this disparity is that there is a "class divide" and reactionary words such as "class warfare" isn't enough to turn off American's from voting for those who have their interests. The young do also vote on presidential elections based on several issues and social ones do have a big part.

PO, perhaps some of the commentators were baised, but the samething was said by a lation republican when she commented on Virginia votings.

Oh, America is not no longer a white nation, if whites voted 60% for Romney and he still lost, that speaks volume of where the country is headed. Also, this is not neccessarily a good thing, now in the next elections I expect to see more restrictions, intimidation, and voter I.D. laws to prevent/intimidate minorities from voting.

50/48 win?????????????????????? is that a victory or a near miss , the voters punished Obama's hypocracy , he run the most ridiclous campign in history , he agreed with his exterm right wing opponent , his cover was blown , Obama is basically another republican agent.
When Obama had both houses he still choose to serve the rich , fkkkkk this guy man , am tired of people praising this traitor.

Re: Untold story of last night!
Last night after the result of the election was broadcasted, I was FOXnews and they kept whining about how the republicans were un-unified. They were fraustrated of how olympia snowe, one of the longest serving Republican senator, and some other republicans decided not to run for re-election because they were fraustrated with the lack of bipartisnaship in congress. I too feel like the republicans need to set their prioroties straight.
Although I support the democrats, I can't say I was happy that Obama was re-elected. They make us feel like we can make a difference by voting when in fact we have to choose between the two worst candidates in the United States.
