Can you be a clanist & a good muslim?

Well, can you? It seems to contradict the concept of "Islamic brotherhood". How can you be a muslim and treat another muslim differently only cuz he aint a fellow clansmen?

You have to define a clanist first. Is it someone who hates other somalis based solely on their tribal affiliations or someone who indulges in anything considered tribilism or clanism like investing your money in your tribal region, favoring people of your clan/tribe over others etc.

No you cannot be a clanist and at the same time claim to be a muslim. in the Quran it says use clan to identify one another but obviously people are using it for all the wrong reasons, completely the opposite of what Islam said so.

Definition of clanist:

Someone who has prejudice against other of differing qabiils.

Example:

Darood man sees two men dying of thirst. One is darood and the other isaaq. He has enough water to give only to one. Being qabiilist he asks their qabiils. He gives all the water he could spare to one the one that says he is darood.

This is an extreme case but anyone who thinks in similar way is qabiilist.

A true practicing muslim shouldn't be a clanist but you know what? We all have weaknesses. We are fallible humans. I'm not a clanist but i do have other short comings. It's all part of being a human.

Being a clanist makes you a bad muslim, not a kaafir.

The screw--Dumb question i know..lol..but what i was getting at is that the argument this bastard is raising is that if one is a qabiilist, he is automatically a kaafir. That's the same argument used by Globetrotter. Obviously, DD isn't capable of an original argument or thought. Laughing

It just makes you a not so good muslim. We all have our weaknesess. Some are racist. Some are alcolihics. Some are sex-addicts..none make you a kaafir..

Many people somalis are building their houses in their tribal regions when they could build it anywhere they want in Somalia or even other places that they would like build it. So are these somalis tribalists or are they being smart and just looking out for their safety?
