Police are investigating a deadly home invasion at this home on Corkstone Glade in Mississauga.
TORONTO - A man found dead following a home invasion in Mississauga early Friday morning is alleged to be one of the three men involved in the crime.
The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Toronto resident Ibrahim Abukar.
Police responded to a call on Corkstone Glade, in the Dixie Road and Rathburn Road area, just before 12:30 a.m.
The three men were then confronted by the homeowner and a struggle ensued resulting in the death of the male.
Investigators have no information connecting the deceased to the homeowner who only suffered minor injuries.
Peel Regional Police confirm Abukar was found suffering from gunshot wounds inside the duplex.
The home belongs to Mike Vrga and his wife and two children. Vrga operates VTM Mechanical, a heating and air conditioning company, from the home.
A co-worker of Vrga’s, Mark Guluzian arrived at the home at approximately 7a.m. Friday morning ready to go to work and was stunned to see the mass of media and police outside his friend’s home.
“I’m in shock right now,” Guluzian said. “I hope that he’s alright and that his family’s alright and his children are alright too because they are wonderful people.”
According to Guluzian, the lower level of the house is occupied by a female renter.
Police said the homeowner and his family are safe.
Police and K9 units are searching the area for at least two suspects, described as black males wearing dark clothing.
Massimo Storino lives down the street from Vrga and said he heard nothing out of the ordinary overnight, noting the neighbourhood is usually safe.
“I can’t believe it, it’s outrageous. I’m kind of worried you know, I’ve got a lot of family that lives here,” Storino said. “This is scary and outrageous. And stuff like this doesn’t happen in this neighbourhood.”
The peel police homicide squad has taken over the investigation.
Good Riddance!
