Great Thing About Living In DC As It Pertains To Somalia

Post by Murax »

I meet a lot of Mps, etc. and conversate with them, and I have some family members that help in receiving them. I don't have any need for anything in Somalia now, but in the future as the Gov grows it could be a cool networking opprutunity, incase I get into a jam one day in Somalia

I'm not talking about money. I'm just saying if I catch a tough break somehow or get in a serious jam. I would never do it to get a unfair advantage.

Somalis have short term memory and won't remember those favors you did. If you get into a jam, the only thing you can count on is your clan. I met all kinds of characters with differing political ideologies but all were from my clan and saluted me as being the grandson of the Chief Caaqil of my juufo. My Awowe's name carried weight that made me more popular than Qeybdiid, Hussein Caydiid or Caato combined. Its amazing how much respect my Awowe had among the Sacad: from the Isbaaro commander to the Naval commander to the Al Ikhwan to Warlords. His brothers were equally popular from Hobyo to Qalaafo.

As for future connections, don't count on it. The whole government has a major case of Parkinsons. Niccas I invested in and defended act like they don't know me. I am waiting when they get dismissed so that I can lord it over them. Matter of fact, I am investing for 2016: a political secularist party broad based movement that will challenge the grip of the surwalgabs.

Abdiwahab,

Any word on your cousin Xussen Caydiid? Did he retired from politics? Is he locked up in a dungeon somewhere in Eritrea?

My buddy is in Uganda. He is perhaps the nicest Somali politician once you get to know him and is loyal to his friends. He is dumb as hell but our broke version of George Bush, Jr.

I see. So, the guy went back to the 'no body' he was before the civil war. Good for him. I ask you another question. If your Idol, Maxamad Faarax Caydid was alive today, what role do you think he would've played in Somalia's politics? Would we reach where we are today? Would he simply have the same status as Cali Mahdi?

Speaking of Cali Mahdi, what is his role? A politician or a civilian?

Coldoon,

If Caydiid was alive, he wouldn't pander to the foreigners. He and MSB were the old school generation who were their own men and didn't pander like today's politicians who have sold themselves out.

When Caydiid was alive, the UN did not have as much control over Somalia as they do today. Look at how the UN staff were powerless unlike the Mahigas and AU of today who operate like they are rulers of Somalia.

No we're not talking about money. It's the favour thing, if someone who went to school with your uncle comes to you and asks you (you who has responsibility for something) to bend the rules for them, even your own close relatives. It's somehow "normal" behaviour and that is messed up.

Murax and BlackVelvet,

Stealing, corruption and pilfering state funds are considered to be time honored traditions. Shid, if I become an MP and don't become overweight in less than 2 months, then I am doing a poor job and will be canned !

Abdiwahab,

Let's not get into the whole UN-Mahiga issue. What positive changes would Caydiid bring about, had he been alive today? Mind you, during his last days, Mogadishu was divided into South and North. No central government was in existence.

It happened with every government we've had since independence and because of qabiil corruption morphs into something even uglier. We need to have systems in place to avoid this happening and stop history from repeating itself.

Coldoon,

You can't get a central government unless you form a broad based coalition that rules a vast contiguous territory. Caydiid did have such an alliance and asserted his authority and made great progress towards a peace deal with his opponents before the foreigners invaded in late 1992.

The major problem with Somalia is and was that no one side was allowed to seize a complete victory because of direct foreign intervention. It was the case with Caydiid, Hassan Dahir Aweys etc. The protracted civil war is the reason why we are a failed state,

Abdiwahab,

Do you think Caydiid ever committed any crimes?
