That's the first step to ensure all these militiamen are rehabilitated. I sometimes wonder why do Somali commentators dislike the idea of ex-militiamen becoming national soldiers..aren't they aware that the first batch of military personnel Somalia had were geeljiriyaal from the countryside who sometimes raided livestock and participated in clan wars? As long as the rehabilitation goes well then it should be fine.

They just need a supervisor who keeps tabs on their activities because the shacab have lost trust in the gun wielding Somali men.

I think the army should be reduced to minimum levels and replaced with police forces.
We don`t need an army except to patrol the border.
